Tim and Eric Awesome Medley Great Job

Do you have a special song with a significant other? Do friends from work always quote that certain movie?

In any group, people bond over cultural goodies. In City City, ours is just awesomer than everyone else’s.

As a band, you might expect we first related over a certain song or a “sound” we wanted to chase. WRONG! Instead, we bonded over one of the most bizarre and funny television shows ever on television ever. That show: Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!

Tim and Eric is a show on Adult Swim (Awesome). It features awkward editing reminiscent of the local news when you were younger (the one that always had the mess-ups) and infomercials for the most random items. Do you like famous actors in CA-RAAZY situations? Tim and Eric might confuse you then.

We’re all HUGE fans so we decided to cover some of the songs with a big rock band sound. It took all of eight minutes for Tim Heidecker to retweet this to his followers when we debuted it this morning. Thanks for making our day, Tim!

Tim and Eric also have a movie coming out in March.  Watch the Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie-Official Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si-xUeeqqRQ

Love to all!

Weekend Warrior Runs

So we got this awesome van last year and we’re going to put it to good use with some weekend warrior runs. We’re heading up to San Francisco for the first time later this month, making a stop in Bakersfield, and playing at one of our favorite LA venues when we get back. Check it out:

Friday, Jan 20 – Bakersfield, CA @ the Mint
Saturday, Jan 21 – San Francisco, CA @ Brainwash Cafe
Sunday, Jan 22 – Los Angeles, CA @ the Satellite

More details are on our Shows tab.

The van is warmed up and we just played our first show of 2012 in Las Vegas and it was a blast! Playing at the Freakin’ Frog (http://freakinfrog.com) was a real treat. Plus thanks to lucky number 13, we were able to get home without losing our pants at the roulette table. Slots, well, we think that’s a story that will stay in Vegas.

2011 Passes the Torch Over to 2012

It’s the New Year and we couldn’t be happier.  2012 is going to be our best year EVER, because 2011 was so productive.  As we embark on this journey, let us re-cap some of the more notable and wonderful happenings.

Trailer Purchase
We started the year with a big bold purchase, a purchase of a trailer.  A trailer is one of those things that you carry stuff, horses, or other stuff in.  In our case, it was musical equipment!  We didn’t have a van at this point (keep reading!), but we knew we eventually would.

Van Purchased
Look how quick that was paragraph above!

In February, we launched a Kickstarter campaign to buy a van to compliment our trailer.  We were absolutely BLINDSIDED with love and support and raised $2,800 in 3 days!  Every other highlight on this list occurred in this van, so we say with NO exaggeration, we couldn’t have done it without you.  :)   Thank you again to those who loved us.  To see their names, click here.

Spring Tour
The buildup to this tour was absolutely insane.  In the weeks and days before, we pressed CD’s, ordered shirts and wrapped up all loose ends in taking a new vehicle (with some engine trouble to boot!) across the country.  Alas we did it, and had one of the best times in our lives.

This first tour will go down as one of the most transformative moments in City City history.  It showed us we can “do it,” not lose money, and have the time of our lives!  And have the time of our lives we did.

We hit 6 states often playing multiple shows in the same state and met so many nice people along the way.  An extra special thanks to Will Embry for supporting us and helping us get home.  :)

Hawaii Show
How many bands can say they’ve played Hawaii?  Jimmy Buffet’s band yes, but like rock bands & stuff.  Exactly, hardly any!  On April 29th, we joined the elite few who’ve had this island honor and rocked the SOHO thanks to the owners and our friends in Jet Setter Productions .  We can’t wait to play again!  That last sentence was a hint promoters of Hawaii.  ;)

Fall Tour
The only thing cooler than going on a spring tour then going to Hawaii, in doing both then going on a Fall Tour months later!  This one rocked our lives even harder as we expanded to 8 states and more gigs.  We pressed our own T-Shirts for these shows, and expanded our merchandise to include shot glasses (sorry mom).  We got to see some amazing parts of the nation (small towns are STILL the best) and met even more incredible people.  We will be back friends.  :)

June 2011-August 2011
And that brings us to our proudest accomplishment as well as foreshadowing for the coming year.  In June we embarked on a 3 month writing binge.  We met 5+ times a week, didn’t sleep and lived in our rehearsal space.  Yes, it was the middle of summer, in the valley, no air conditioning. We wrote an incredible amount of new material and are more excited than we’ve ever been to play them live.

2012?
This year is going to be bananas (B-A-N-A-N-A-S).  For starters, we’ll be taking some weekend warrior runs to play for our friends up and down the Cali coast plus some dates in Nevada and Arizona. You will hear new music, you will hear new music being played live by us, and will hear from us often.  Be warned.  Stay tuned.  Love you all.
